On the 30th of October, 2019, we held our fourth Comedy Night in support of Wairoa School. Located in Bondi, Wairoa School provides education and support to students who have moderate and high support needs for their learning, personal care, health, behaviour and living skills.
We are delighted to announce that this event helped us raise over $18,000 for the replacement of their Interactive Whiteboards which will enable their students to connect and engage in their learning.
In summary, we:
- sold 133 tickets
- served and scoffed 50 pizzas
- raised $2,730 in our raffle
- raised $4,005 in our silent auction
- raised $3,950 in our live auction
- received $3,405 in donations…and still counting!
- laughed a lot!!
Jane Cosgrove, the parent of Gus, who attends Wairoa School, was the driving force behind the event. Her passion, energy and tenacity and especially her ability to acquire auction items ensured the night would be a success.
A massive thank you to the Helping Hand Group for donating some great auction prizes and for their amazing support before, after and during the night, especially with the Silent Auction! The evening run smoothly thanks to them, and gave us great peace of mind.
We send big hugs and thanks to everyone who attended, purchased raffle tickets and made bids on the auction items. We must make special mention to our Ambassadors, especially Charlotte Sherston & Antony Millet for bringing their tribes!
We were fortunate to have a terrific line-up of comedians. We send out thanks to Sam Taunton (our MC), Ron Josol, Micky D, Gerard McGowan, Lauren Bonner, Dave Woodhead and Sam Bowden, who all ensured the night was filled with laughs.
Thank you to the team at the Comedy Store, especially David Javor, for their always amazing organisation, and to James Declase & Hugh Inglis, who organised this great bunch of comedians to make the night such fun.
